Fitting a capping and counter rail to your new featheredge or closeboard fence is a great way of protecting your fence from the elements. Over time, without capping and counter rail, water can get into the grain of the timber, resulting in rot and damage. Capping and counter rail can protect the top of the fence from water and weathering to enhance the longevity of your fence. It also offers a tidy and good looking finish to your fence top.
The counter rail is fitted first and works to provide additional support and stability to the top of featheredge and closeboard fence panels. It is also the base for where the capping rail is fixed. It is available in two sizes:
Once you have fitted the counter fail, you can fix the capping rail. The capping rail acts as an additional barrier of protection from rain and moisture exposure. The capping rail covers the top of the fence and creates a barrier and tidy aesthetic finish.
We offer two varieties of 3m capping rail:
Heavy-duty capping rails are most suitable for heavy-duty slotted posts. Trench capping is designed for featheredge or closeboard fencing and can be quickly and easily fitted by slotting over to the top of the fence and screwing down.
