This grade A timber is cut to produce a uniform square edge. As a grade-A timber, you should expect that the sleeper may have split at either end and possible wane on one edge.

Treated Softwood Sleeper Grading Guidelines:

Grade A – May have splits either end, with the possibility of wane on one edge.
Grade B – Possibility of large splits and two waned edges.
Grade C – Large splits, 2/3 waned edges, can be warped and some rot.
